An Accessible Web Site Makes Good Business Sense!

An accessible web site is one in which users with disabilities can interact with and read without difficulty.

It doesn't take longer to make a web site accessible, but it does require a different skill set that not every designer possesses. I have worked hard to acquire these skills, not only to meet accessibility standards, but also because it makes good business sense for my clients.

A web site that is accessible is also:

  • quick to load
  • cross-browser compatible (it will display correctly in all the major browsers)
  • search engine friendly

About Kristin Zeller

I have been making web sites since 1996. I began by serving a select few organizations and then expanded my business to serve a wider customer base. My current service area is Southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeastern Indiana.

All of my services are guaranteed. If you are unhappy about any product I create for you, I will make it right, or I will refund your money. It's as simple as that.

Making the Web a Better Place for All

open doorI create web sites that are cleanly designed, well organized, and meet government standards for accessibility.  An accessible web site is one in which users with disabilities such as visual, cognitive, motor, or neurological, can read and interact with your web site without difficulty.

A common way to program web sites is by using all Flash technology or tables for page layout, but using these programming methods can make it very difficult or impossible for some visitors to view the content.

I program my web sites using "strict" xhtml and cascading style sheets, separating the page content from the page layout. For Flash animations and other images, I place descriptive text in the code to allow screen readers to identify and describe the visual content. Furthermore, I check the web pages I code against standards defined by the Web Accessibility Initiative.

Not only will this effort make your web site accessible, it also speeds page load times, virtually eliminates cross-browser inconsistencies, and improves search engine rankings. In other words, your web site will be understood by all, appear quickly, and look good no matter what browser your visitor is using.
